Lunch Yinyasa

Enjoy a sweet yin practice, combined with a mellow vinyasa flow. The yin practice targets deep connective tissues, increases breath awareness, and cultivates inward observation and reflection. Through deep holds, we recognize and remove energetic and physical blocks as we relax whatever holds us back. Using the new space created, we will move through a slow vinyasa flow, which can include sun salutations, standing poses, and core work. Finish practice with the option of blocks and blankets to cradle the body, we will revisit the yin element of practice and melt into savasana.

Slow down and focus on subtle alignment and take pleasure in each breath.  Through the use of therapeutic yoga techniques, we will move through an artful sequence of postures, with challenging core work, compassionate hands-on assists, and emphasis on breath and body awareness to regulate the nervous system and deepen connection to self. As you learn to work honestly at your edges, you will develop effective tools through longer holds in poses to create a slow build towards challenging, exciting poses – making it possible for integrity, self-awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life.

Don’t let the “Intro” Fool You, Yoga Vets!

There are many doorways to a yoga practice but no matter which you choose, there are 5 Pillars on which you can build your foundation.  These are the Pillars of Forrest Yoga, the tradition that informs the way I teach.

BREATH
Breathe deeply, connect in feeling with your body, use the power of breath to bring aliveness into every cell of your body and ignite your passion for living.

STRENGTH
Connect to your core, to be strong and centered. Work with pose sequences designed to help you develop the skills to awaken each of your senses. Hold poses longer to help you progress and go deeper and build heat in the body. As you build your own heat, you learn to meet the physical sensation of heat with deep breathing which oxygenates and rejuvenates every cell in your body.

INTEGRITY
Develop tools to safely tailor each pose to work best for you, particularly if you are working with physical and emotional injuries. By learning to work honestly at your edges, you begin to understand how to deal with fear and struggle. This makes it possible for integrity, self-awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life.

SPIRIT
Create a sense of freedom, a connection to your Spirit and the courage to walk as your Spirit dictates.

There is also a Fifth Pillar, which is to GO DEEPER – And this is for the Yoga Vets. This means to go back to the beginning, revisit your foundation and dive deeper into, maybe even dismantle pieces of it, and rebuild, reshape and renew.
